Details

Merlin has been designed to be simple and easy to use, making it ideal for offline quality control routines performed by production staff. The Merlin comes at a surprisingly low cost, yet delivers impressive accuracy and repeatability.

Hi-Resolution Video Camera

Accurate non-contact measurement of precision components requires high resolution, high contrast images, combined with a precision measuring stage.

Merlin utilises a high resolution video camera to provide enhanced component edge definition for fast and simple measurement, with an array of video measurement tools to simplify the measurement process. This ensures the highest possible accuracy of measurement plus consistency of results, no matter how many operators use the system.

Precision Measuring Stage

Measurements are performed on a high performance 3-plate stage, providing a measuring range of 150mm x 100mm. The stage is gimbal mounted to ensure critical parallel positioning and has factory-completed non-linear error correction (NLEC) calibration to ensure optimum accuracy, traceable to NPL/NAMAS/NIST standards for the purposes of ISO9000. Combined with 1µm resolution measuring encoders, this provides a system repeatability of 5µm* for complete confidence in your results.

Intuitive Microprocessor

Data processing is performed by a powerful QC-300 video microprocessor which features with a high resolution touch-screen colour display plus an array of video measurement tools, including simple crosshair measurement, offset crosshair for difficult-to-find edges, manual or automatic single point detection and multi-point Video Edge Detection.

The intuitive QC-300 software has been designed with ease of use in mind and can be used by shift workers or advanced users alike. Connectivity includes Ethernet, USB, parallel and serial ports for use with printers and on computer networks.

Options & Accessories

Surface and sub-stage illumination options enable adjustment of lighting to suit any application. Surface illumination is provided by an array of 20 high intensity LEDs. Quick-change magnification options are: x10, x20, x50 (x20 fitted as standard).
