Using Mantis: Rework
The new Mantis has been developed to enhance the uses for more diverse applications including rework. With magnification now available up to x20 and bright white LED illumination, a greater scope is provided for both inspection and rework tasks. Mantis Elite incorporates an interchangeable turret to allow the operator to inspect at a higher magnification, and quickly switch to a lower magnification for rework tasks. With Universal stand, Mantis delivers additional flexibility to the operator allowing them to swing the system to one side to take notes.
Rework is an important task in many industries including:
- Electronics
- Precision Engineering
- Plastics
- Dental Technology
Electronics
Mantis provides an optimum visual system for the electronics industry, delivering the flexibility, accuracy and stability required to assist in executing concise and intricate tasks. Using the soldering iron when reworking a PCB demands complete coordination; Mantis provides a long working distance allowing the range of movement required to perform accurate rework tasks.
Precision Engineering
When deburring a machined component, the operator needs to see as much of the subject as possible. With a large depth of field and field of view, the operator can view an optimum area of the component part looking through the Mantis. Shadow-free LED illumination is evenly projected onto the component, minimising any reflection that may occur on shiny surfaces.
Plastics
Reworking a plastic component such as removing flash requires the operator to accurately see a clear image so that precise removal can be achieved. Expanded eye pupil technology provides an ergonomic advantage to the operator enabling the subject to be reworked without straining the eye muscles and causing eye fatigue, increasing productivity.
Dental Technology
In addition to being used for carrying out inspection the Mantis is also used when modifying fine detail. A long working distance enables the operator to work comfortably under its magnification. It is important in dental technology to make sure that any modifications are carried out accurately in order to prevent the loss of fit. The new Mantis provides ergonomic advantages, preventing eye fatigue and muscle strain, thus allowing the user to work comfortably for longer periods.
The new Mantis delivers a solution when tasks such as trimming
dies, fabricating accurate patterns and adjusting the fit of castings
need to be carried out under magnification. The long working distance
and freedom of head movement allows the operator to work comfortably
and accurately. The large depth of field allows the work to be
viewed at a greater magnification through the stereo viewer with
an increased amount of the subject in focus thus providing for
a greater overall perspective when working on one specific area.
