Group Accountant Fixed – Term Contract

About the Role:

The Group Accountant will consolidate and analyse financial results for assigned Group legal entities, ensure compliance with Group standards, and provide clear, actionable insights to senior management.

The role reports to the Group Management Accountant.

What you will be doing:

  • Month-End & Financial Close
    • Assist with month-end close, ensuring accurate cost accounting, inventory valuation, WIP and stock accounting, and production-related entries.
    • Prepare and review monthly management accounts for assigned entities.
    • Complete balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
  • Analysis & Reporting
    • Consolidate monthly results and deliver variance analysis against budget and forecast.
    • Provide clear, insight driven commentary on performance, trends, risks, and opportunities to management and key stakeholders.
    • Provide operational insights to support efficiency improvements and reduce waste.
    • Support cost control initiatives with variance analysis and actionable insights.
  • Accounting & Compliance
    • Ensure compliance with UK GAAP (FRS 102) and local GAAPs.
    • Oversee accurate and consistent intercompany accounting.
  • Business Partnering
    • Act as Finance Business Partner for assigned departments.
    • Review departmental performance monthly with budget holders.
    • Provide commercial analysis on revenue, pricing, and margin optimisation.
    • Monitor sales KPIs and customer profitability.
    • Evaluate ROI on promotional/export initiatives and provide recommendations.
    • Support strategic decisions such as pricing models and market entry.
    • Collaborate with sales leadership to support strategic decisions, including new market entry and pricing models
  • Budgeting & Forecasting
    • Highlight early warnings of deviations from budget or forecast.
  • Projects & Ad-Hoc Support
    • Support ERP implementation and process improvement initiatives.
    • Contribute to financial modelling for strategic decisions.
    • Take ownership of new or undefined projects with a proactive approach.

What we are looking for:

We need someone who can step in confidently and make an immediate impact. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong background in stock, WIP, and manufacturing accounting;
  • Proven experience in multi‑entity consolidations;
  • Comfortable dealing with messy or unclear data, backlogs, and process gaps;
  • Demonstrated ability to stabilise processes quickly;
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong financial analysis capability;
  • Experience with ERP systems and working in change environments.

What you will be getting:

This is a full time, 3 – 6 months fixed term contract, 36 hours per week and the standard staff working hours are applicable – Monday to Thursday 9:00am – 5:15pm and Fridays 9:00am to 5:00pm with an hour lunch break, with flexibility on the start and finish times in line with the Company’s core working hours policy.

  • Additional production bonus (variable percentage of basic salary payable monthly in arrears); linked to the value of goods invoiced from the UK factory base;
  • Aviva private pension scheme, in line with Government legislation and guidelines. Currently 5% employee contribution and 3% employer contribution;
  • 24 days holiday per annum (plus additional Bank Holidays);
