Deburr Operator/Precision Finishing Technician

About the Role:

Working in the Machine Shop, this position works closely with the Quality and Production departments to produce quality end-products within set quality, tolerances and productivity time scales.

We are seeking an experienced Deburr Operator / Precision Finishing Technician to join a high-quality precision engineering environment. This role focuses on high-end cosmetic and functional finishing of tight-tolerance, high-value components for demanding engineering applications. Individuals will be working within a small team but need to be able to work on their own initiative with minimal supervision.

This role reports to the Assistant Machine Shop Supervisor.

What you will be doing:

  • Hand deburring and precision finishing of CNC-machined components
  • Removal of burrs, sharp edges and machining marks to cosmetic and functional standards
  • High-end finishing of tight-tolerance and customer-critical components
  • Operation of rumbling / vibratory finishing processes where required
  • Use of hand and powered tools including files, stones, scrapers, emery, Scotch-Brite, pencil and die grinders
  • Preparation of components for anodising, coating, plating and assembly
  • Reading and working from engineering drawings and job documentation
  • Final visual and tactile inspection to ensure quality compliance
  • Maintaining excellent housekeeping and tool control standards

What we are looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Deburr Operator or Precision Finishing Technician
  • Strong background in high-end cosmetic and functional finishing
  • Experience working with copper, aluminum, stainless steel, titanium, aerospace-grade alloys and exotic materials
  • Knowledge of rumbling / vibratory finishing processes
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances without affecting critical dimensions
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality-first mindset
  • Confidence working on high-value and safety-critical components
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a skilled production team

What you will be getting:

This is a full time, permanent position, 40 hours per week and the standard staff working hours are applicable – Monday to Friday 07:30am – 4:00pm, with half an hour lunch break, with flexibility on the start and finish times in line with the Company’s core working hours policy.

  • Additional production bonus (variable percentage of basic salary payable monthly in arrears); linked to the value of goods invoiced from the UK factory base;
