A vacancy has arisen for a hardworking and willing individual to join a small and friendly team, taking care of internal and external maintenance at Vision Engineering’s large, modern HQ & Factory in Send and, occasionally, on a local farm owned by the Company.

About the Role:
The Maintenance Team Member is part of a team of 3 and the team is responsible for the day-to-day upkeep, maintenance, safety and presentation of Vision Engineering’s facilities and grounds. Offsite work, including a local small farm and local engineering subsidiary is sometimes required. This is a practical, hands-on role requiring the individual to personally undertake a wide range of maintenance and repairs.
The role combines technical maintenance and some contractor liaison, ensuring that the site remains safe, compliant, well maintained and fit for purpose.
The role reports to the Office & Facilities Manager and is supervised by the Maintenance Team Leader
What you and your colleagues will be doing:
Facility Maintenance & Upkeep
- Maintain the overall condition, appearance and functionality of the interior and exterior of the facility.
- Carry out hands-on maintenance, repair and improvement works across the site, including building fabric, fixtures, fittings and general facilities infrastructure.
- Respond to day-to-day maintenance issues in a timely and practical manner, personally undertaking repairs where appropriate and dealing with contractors where required.
- Conduct routine inspections of buildings, grounds and facilities to identify maintenance requirements and ensure high standards are maintained.
- Ensure the premises remain safe, clean, secure and professionally presented at all times.
- Routine tasks in our modern Machine Shop including the removal of swarf and cutting/lubricating fluids for recycling.
- Includes simple machine maintenance for which training is given (complex machines are maintained on an external contract).
- When necessary, oversee out-of-hours maintenance activities, ensuring appropriate site access.
- Maintain a proactive approach to identifying and resolving maintenance issues before they impact operations.
Inspection & Site Monitoring
- Ensure scheduled inspections are completed and documented, including:
- Building condition inspections.
- Grounds and external areas inspections.
- General health and safety observations.
- Identification and reporting of remedial works.
This is not an exhaustive list of responsibilities. Additional duties are sometimes required to meet the needs of the business.
What we are looking for:
- Some practical experience within a manufacturing, industrial, commercial, domestic or facilities environment.
- Some of the work is physical, so a willingness and ability to carry out physical tasks
- Hands-on skills across general building maintenance and repair.
- Some experience of working with contractors and service providers.
- Competence in maintaining records and managing maintenance documentation.
- Flexible approach, with willingness to respond to urgent maintenance issues when required.
Skills & Experience
- Experience of maintenance in a relevant environment.

- Car driver with current UK licence.
Full training is provided in any specialist skills required

What you will be getting:
This is a full time, permanent contract, 40 hours per week and the standard staff working hours are applicable – Monday to Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm, with half an hour lunch break. There is flexibility on start and finish times in line with the Company’s core working hours policy, to allow for parenting or other personal commitments.
A 4 day a week candidate will be considered (The salary etc below will be reduced proportionately)
- Additional production bonus (variable percentage of basic salary payable monthly in arrears); linked to the value of goods invoiced from the UK factory base;
